Core service
Gutter Cleaning, Sydney Inner West
A full clear, flush test and photo report for houses, terraces, semis and strata blocks across Marrickville, Newtown, Balmain, Leichhardt, Ashfield and the surrounding suburbs. Fully insured, no surprise line items.
A blocked gutter never announces itself politely.
Gutters fail quietly. Water builds up behind a blockage, finds a low point, and starts working its way under a roof sheet, behind a fascia board, or down a party wall shared with your neighbour. By the time you see a stain on the ceiling, the water’s usually been getting in for weeks.
Inner West homes have it worse than most of Sydney. Deep street-tree canopy from jacarandas, plane trees, camphor laurels and fig trees means more leaf litter landing in gutters, more often, especially through autumn and after any decent wind. Add in the older housing stock, box gutters on Federation terraces, narrow party-wall roofs on semis, and awkward valleys on Californian bungalows, and a standard once-a-year clean often isn’t enough.
The fix isn’t complicated. It’s making sure someone actually checks the whole run, not just what’s visible from the ground.
Everything included in every clean.
Full gutter & valley clear
Every metre cleared by hand or vacuum, including roof valleys and behind chimneys where leaf litter builds up unseen.
Downpipe flush test
Water run through every downpipe to confirm it exits clear at the bottom, not just clear where you can see it.
Debris bagged & green-wasted
All leaf litter and silt bagged and taken with us to green waste, not landfill and not hosed down the stormwater drain toward the Cooks River. Nothing left piled on your lawn either.
Before & after photos
A simple photo record of the job, useful for landlords, strata records or insurance if you ever need it.
Written condition note
Rust spots, loose brackets, sagging sections or cracked flashing, flagged so you can decide what to do next.
Minor fixes on the spot
A loose bracket or small re-seal, we usually just fix it there and then rather than booking a second visit.
Signs your gutters need attention now.
Any one of these is worth a call before the next rain, not after it.
Overflow during light rain
If water spills over the edge in anything short of a downpour, the gutter’s already substantially blocked.
Plants sprouting from the gutter
Seedlings growing in your gutter mean there’s enough built-up organic matter and moisture to support them, a sure sign it hasn’t been touched in a while.
Sagging or pulling away from the fascia
Waterlogged debris is heavy. A sagging gutter is often carrying far more weight than it was built for.
Water marks on the fascia or wall
Staining below the gutter line usually means overflow has already happened more than once.
Built for Inner West housing stock.
Each property type has its own quirks. Here’s how we handle the ones we see most.
Terraces & semis
Box gutters buried between party walls, steep narrow roofs and shared access are the bulk of our work across Marrickville, Newtown and Balmain. We check the full run, not just the visible section.
Two-storey homes
More gutter run and taller access. Our crew is trained and equipped for safe two-storey access, including harness use on steeper pitches around Leichhardt and Ashfield.
Strata & townhouses
Whole-block cleans coordinated directly with your strata manager or committee, with one consolidated report and invoice for the building.
Commercial & childcare
Straightforward, documented work for shopfronts, small offices and childcare centres that need a clear compliance-friendly record.
Investment & rental homes
Photo reports sent straight to your property manager on request, so you’re covered without having to chase anything up yourself.
Roof valleys & behind chimneys
These spots hold as much leaf litter as the gutters themselves and are easy to miss from the ground. We clear them as standard, not as an add-on.
Solar panels don’t stop the leaves.
A panel array over a gutter section actually makes debris build-up worse in one way: it shades that stretch of gutter, so it stays damp longer and the leaf litter breaks down into a heavier, more compacted silt. We clear those sections carefully, working around mounting brackets and cabling rather than disturbing them.
If we spot anything that looks like it needs an electrician, a loose conduit clip, exposed cabling, corrosion near a junction box, we’ll flag it in your report rather than touching it ourselves. Gutter work and solar electrical work are two different trades, and we’re upfront about which side of that line we sit on.
A Marrickville terrace, from overflow to sorted.
“Our box gutter had been overflowing onto the shared wall for months. Two other people wouldn’t touch it because of the party-wall access. It took an afternoon once someone who actually knew what they were looking at got up there.”
Illustrative example, Federation terrace, Marrickville
The box gutter ran the full width of the terrace, shared with the neighbouring property, and had been quietly overflowing during heavy rain for at least two seasons. Ground-level leaf litter from the street’s plane trees had packed into the low point where the gutter met the downpipe outlet, invisible unless you were actually up on the roof looking. We cleared the full run, flushed the outlet until it ran clear, and confirmed the fix with a follow-up photo during the next rain event.

Questions we get about gutter cleaning.
What does a gutter clean actually include?
A full clear of every metre of gutter and valley, a flush test on every downpipe to confirm it runs clear all the way through, debris bagged and removed from site, and a short photo report with any issues we spot noted for you.
How long does a gutter clean take?
Most standalone houses take 45 minutes to two hours depending on gutter length, roof pitch and how overdue the clean is. Larger homes, double storeys or strata blocks with multiple roof sections take longer. We’ll give you a realistic estimate with your quote.
Can you clean gutters on a terrace or semi with a shared box gutter?
Yes, this is the bulk of our work. Box gutters buried between party walls are common across Marrickville, Newtown, Balmain and Leichhardt, and need a different approach to a standard eaves gutter. We check the whole run, not just the visible section.
Do you work on two-storey homes?
Yes. Our crew is trained and equipped for safe access on two-storey and steeper roofs, including harness use where the pitch calls for it.
Will you clean around my solar panels?
Yes, carefully. We clear the gutter sections beneath and around panel arrays without disturbing mounting brackets or cabling, and flag anything that looks like it needs an electrician’s attention rather than touching it ourselves.
Do you clean gutters for strata blocks?
Yes. We work directly with strata managers and committees to schedule whole-block cleans, and can provide a single consolidated report and invoice for the building rather than one per unit.
What if you find damage while cleaning?
We note it in your photo report and tell you honestly whether it needs attention now or can wait. Small fixes, like a loose bracket, we often just do on the spot. Anything bigger gets quoted separately through our gutter and downpipe repairs service, no pressure either way.
How much does gutter cleaning cost?
It depends on gutter length, roof pitch, access and how overdue the clean is. We quote every job before starting, either from a quick phone call and photos or an on-site look, so the price is confirmed before any work begins.
